Freshman in College

This guest post from Werner Rogers

When my daughter left for college this year, I took it a lot harder than I thought I would. We did everything possible to prepare her for life on her own, and I thought dropping her off at her dorm would be a happy occasion for all of us. It turned out to be very hard for her father and me emotionally. We were prepared in all the right ways, but we weren’t prepared for how it would feel to actually drive off and leave her all by herself. She’s adjusted swimmingly, of course. She loves her classes and has made a ton of new friends. Her dad and I are getting over it too, but we’ve also had to adjust our spending to afford the expenses of having a child in college. I almost had a heart attack over how expensive her textbooks alone were, and that’s to say nothing of the tuition and room and board. We’re making the necessary adjustments, but some are easier than others. The easiest one, by far, has been the decision to change electricity providers. We weren’t aware we could choose our own provider until someone at church recommended we check out http://www.shopelectricityratestexas.com. Unlike some of the adjustments, this one has been a snap. We’re going to use that extra money to fly out to see her next month, and I can’t wait. I miss my little girl! Best Blogger Tips

Comfy Recliners at Affordable Prices!

I found a wall hugging recliner today that reminds me of a baseball mitt, which isn't a bad thing, because I'm guessing it would fit me like a glove! This recliner has a unique look and because the matching sides aren't real leather... it's affordable!

The Idaho Whiskey Leather Recliner by Armen Living is easy to clean and can recline even if pushed up alongside a wall. You don't want it touching your wall, but if you're short on space like we are, it's nice to know that there are recliners made for such situations.

Here's my catcher's mitt from the front. It almost looks as though it's smiling at me! Ok... I'm probably weird for saying so, but don't you see it too? lol

I can only imagine spending hours in this chair. Oh to break a leg and have to stay home from work, reclining in this perfect chair! Or, a happier scenario would be two perfectly healthy legs with intact bones, on a Saturday afternoon. We'll go with that.

This chair lives at Wholesale Furniture Broker and is currently on sale for $879 and ships free. Wholesale Furniture Broker (gowfb.com) is an online retailer I do have some amount of experience with. Not a lot of experience, but I have shopped from their site!

One of my current pieces of furniture came from gowfb.com last Summer. I love it too! It was just around $450 with free shipping and has been an awesome addition to our living room. Love this recliner and ottoman!

What piece or pieces of furniture to you like from gowfb.com? If you could choose just one recliner, what would it be? Best Blogger Tips

What Would a Kitchen be Without a Spice Rack

It wouldn't be a kitchen without a spice rack. I have two wooden spice racks that spin and take up a lot of space on my counter top... so I'm looking to buy a wall spice rack instead. Now... can I find a wall? lol My kitchen is so not the dream kitchen. Space is not a luxury we enjoy!
I love the look of this wall mounted spice rack... it's eye-catching and would free up much needed counter space. A good spice rack doesn't even need to hold all that much. Honestly... I only use about 10 spices on a regular basis. I seriously never needed the two spinning, counter occupying racks I currently have!

I like that this particular rack features the spices in their original containers too. I don't need fancy jars that require labeling. I move faster in the kitchen if I can see the manufacture label instead. Call me crazy!
What type of kitchen spice racks have you owned? What type do you prefer?
