My husband has a friend from college who is from New Zealand. He met an American girl who was studying there, married her and then followed her back to the U.S. That was a couple decades ago and they are still here! Guess he likes the good 'ol USA! Still, he must miss the beautiful beaches of New Zealand, not to mention his family. I can't even imagine living so far away from my childhood home!
If I were planning a trip to New Zealand, I'd need to plan for air travel from my home to the coast, then from the coast to New Zealand. Talk about a long trip! I really don't have the budget or flexibility for travel at this point in my life, but planning out a trip could still be fun. It's sorta like window shopping, but without actually going anywhere!
I think it would be fun researching hotels, attractions, beaches, and the people of New Zealand. The best way to get to know a country is to experience it the way it's citizens do! I'd probably rent a car and do a lot of exploring. Car Rental Auckland Airport is probably where I'd first look to pick up some wheels. I'd want to find something fuel efficient and reliable. If I were more daring and adventurous, I might even look at a motorcycle in New Zealand. It would be a great way to get around, using very little gas. If I weren't such a chicken or afraid of getting rained on that is!
What if I were wanting to live in New Zealand? Maybe for a few years? I'd then have to look at homes! Financing a home in New Zealand would be quite a journey in and of itself. I imagine financing a home there looks different than financing in the US. Just a guess!
In any case, I don't have any real plans to travel at the moment. Some day I'd like to take that dream vacation to Australia and New Zealand. I'd also love to travel through Western Europe, Israel, and Canada. My guess is a trip to Canada will come first! lol
